Agentic IAM Automation

Exploring how AI agents can automate enterprise identity workflows safely.

Exploring how AI agents can automate enterprise identity workflows safely.

One practical research area applies autonomous agents to Identity and Access Management platforms.

Consider an application team requesting a new enterprise application through a service-management system.

Instead of administrators manually translating the request into configuration, an AI workflow could:

  • Read and understand the application request.
  • Identify missing information.
  • Communicate with the application team.
  • Generate a structured configuration.
  • Validate the configuration against organizational policies.
  • Create the application using approved APIs and automation.
  • Configure groups, mappings, roles, and permissions.
  • Perform initial validation.
  • Send the application to an independent QA agent.
  • Promote approved configurations through development, QA, and production environments.
  • Record every action for audit and compliance.

Humans remain involved for approvals, exceptions, and high-risk decisions.

The goal is therefore not uncontrolled automation.

It is governed autonomous automation.
